The much awaited rom-com movie of the year, ironically titled ‘I hate Luv stories’ will finally manage to set the cash registers ringing with its simple yet interesting story line.  A out an out romantic film, ‘I hate Luv stories’ has the sexy Sonam Kapoor paired opposite Imran Khan. Rest of the cast includes names like actor Sameer Dattani, Sameer Soni, Ketki Dave, Anju Mahindru…. Special mention of model Bruna Abdullah, who just adds up the glam quotient..

Directed by newbie Puneet Malhotra, the film is the story of Jai (played by Imran) who works as an assistant director to a filmmaker (Sameer Soni) and Simran (played by Sonam) happens to be the art director at his work place. While Simran is a diehard fan of romantic movies and is fully romantic at heart, Jay is the total opposite, a person who loves girls but just hates love stories. Basically it’s a story of how opposites attract.

‘I hate Luv stories’ has got some terrific music to groove to. Music directors Vishal- Shekhar have done an excellent job. The music is fresh, trendy, energetic and quite peppy. Songs like ‘Bin Tere’ and ‘Bahara’ are just admirable. The most outstanding one has to be the title track of the film.

The director made an excellent choice by bringing a rather unique pair of Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan together. Imran and Sonam just sizzle on the screen with their intense chemistry. After the unusual pairing of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif recently, the next big pair to hit the screens has to be Imran and Sonam.

Exotic locales, sets and some trendy outfits and smart tees from his uncle Manish Malhotra, just adds to the magic.. Imran Khan has done a superb job, quite refreshing and remarkable. Though people who love ‘love stories’ will definitely hate his character.

Sonam Kapoor does justice to her role. Surely she got to play much more than what she got to do in her earlier films. Must say she looks uber cool, amazing in her classy yet elegant chick look.

Actor Sameer Dattani who plays Sonam’s ‘Mr. Perfect’ in the film, is quite a bore. Who happens to be so simple and intense nowadays? Unfortunately his role in the movie gets sidelined in the later half. He could have got some more interesting and meatier character.

Being his first film, Puneet clearly has set a high benchmark however, the candyfloss movie which is hugely inspired from several other Bollywood romantic flicks, at times becomes too predictable and clichéd…

Overall, ‘I hate Luv Stories’ has an interesting pair which is quite successful in attracting the audience’s attention or rather say its (USP)unique selling point. A laugh riot teamed up with romance, resulting into a full on Bollywood masala movie. A young and vibrant story, ‘I hate Luv Stories’ has got a   tremendous youth appeal!!

After the highly acclaimed movie, ‘Rajneeti’ which was inspired from the Indian epic ‘Mahabharta’, Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’ is yet another movie inspired by another great epic ‘Ramayan’….Featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Govinda, Nikhil Dwivedi and Ravi Kishan the film is a romantic-action story.

The film has Abhishek Bahchcan playing the local thief named Beera. While South star, Vikram plays a cop, Dev Pratap Sharma, Aishwarya plays his beloved wife, Ragini. Dev who wants to capture Beera, faces a tough time when Beera kidnaps his wife to avenge a personal grudge. The film is a modern version of Sita being abducted by Raavan. But it has got a twist to it.

The film is a typical Mani Ratnam movie. With picturesque shots of landscapes, mountains, the film leaves you mesmerized..Cinematographer Santosh Sivan once again has done an excellent job. The shot where Abhishek tries to kill Ash for the first time and Ash jumps of the cliff, is simply amazing. Even the shots in the dense forests just take your breath away.

Another aspect that will leave you asking for more has to be the music. The Oscar winning music composer A. R.Rahman has given an outstanding music for ‘Raavan’. Songs like ‘Beera Beera’ , Ranjha-Ranjha’ have tremendous recall value.

Overall, ‘Raavan’ is a great combination of art, cinematography and music. The story however is a bit stretched especially in the first half. Actor Abhishek has done a superb job with his first experimental role. Ash plays her role convincingly. In general, the film is another cop and thief story that tries to be different from others.

Watch out for ‘Raavan’ s great visual appeal….

He kick-started his career with Allah Ke Bande and now Kailash Kher is simply on a roll.

This time he’s all set to kick his way right into the international circuit, following a collaboration with algerian musician Khaled.

The result will be heard and felt as the ‘anthem’ is soon to be associated with the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2010. In He total, he is recording three songs which will be on the FIFA World Cup 2010 album.

The FIFA World Cup will be held in South Africa in June-July.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s father Tahir Hussain passed away in Mumbai following a heart attack. Tahir Hussain was a producer, director and writer of Bollywood movies.

Tahir had directed Aamir’s in his directorial debut Tum Mere Ho in 1990.

Although born in India, Tahir Hussain’s roots were connected to the Pathans of Afghanistan. He was a descendant of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad.

Currently Aamir and his wife Kiran Rao are in the US but are likely to return soon.

Every actor in Bollywood has his/her own tenure and it gets faded with time. But Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee is not ready to accept that her tenure in Bollywood has been completed. She thinks that donning a bikini and losing weight has made her younger and she can be cast opposite any younger actor. The time spent together draws the duo to her, Khalu with his tinted vision of old-fashioned love and Babban with his lustful eye. But the past catches up with all three!

Every actor in ISHQIYA delivers a sparkling performance! Naseeruddin Shah is superb as a romantic. Arshad packs in a bravo performance yet again. Post MUNNABHAI films, Arshad should be liked in this one the maximum. Vidya continues to surprise. It’s a dynamic performance undoubtedly. PAA and ISHQIYA are two landmarks in her career.

On the whole, ISHQIYA is definitely worth a watch. The film has a riveting plot, great performances, soulful music, an absorbing story and skilful direction to make the viewer fall in ishq with it. It should appeal to the hardcore masses as also the multiplex junta.

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi seems to have taken a fancy to following star couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. He did it yet again Thursday evening when he made an unexpected late entry at the premiere of “Rann where Aishwarya and Abhishek were present for the Amitabh Bachchan starrer.

Vivek, who was linked with Aishwarya earlier, arrived hastily at the venue half an hour after the premiere had begun. A source told us “It’s strange to see Vivek here. We don’t know if he has been invited here or has come over just because he is in the capital for an event.” Vivek was reportedly an uninvited entry at Hrithik Roshan’s birthday bash early this month at Shah Rukh Khan’s house Mannat in Mumbai, where the Bachchan couple was present.
He was also spotted chatting with Big B and his wife Jaya at a recent awards function where Aishwarya and Abhishek were noticed sitting at a far distance.

Impressed with her story, Shahrukh fulfilled the wish of the girl, he proposed her and slipped a ring on her finger that she had brought with her. It all happened at a five-star hotel in Ahmedabad in the witness of media and many fans of Shahrukh.

Confirms the source, “At his film’s event, SRK had to meet people with unusual love stories. Among the crowd, was 20-year-old Tillana Desai, who had come dressed in full bridal finery. When SRK asked her about her love story, she said she had been in love with a guy since she was seven but couldn’t marry him as he was already married.”

“When SRK asked her who the guy was, he was surprised to know that he was the man in question! She also said that she only uses the products that he endorses and refuses to buy anything else. The girl insisted that SRK should marry her. SRK used his million-dollar charm to overcome the awkwardness. The girl had even brought a ring with her. He went down on his knees and slipped the ring on her finger, saying that this is their rehearsal for the wedding.”

Moved by Shahrukh’s kind gesture, the girl invited him for a dinner to her house but he was too busy for the dinner.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has replaced Salman Khan as the face of innerwear brand Dollar Club.

“Dollar Industries is tipped to spend up to Rs. 25 crore for the campaign in the next one year. The new commercials featuring Akshay Kumar are likely to hit the air in the first week of February,” said Krishan Gupta, director of Dollar Industries Ltd, in a press statement.

Akshay says this will be his first endorsement in the knitted innerwear segment, and he’s happy to be associated with thte brand because there is a perfect fit between him and the brand, reason being that the brand stands for style of the future generation and he has always been a style statement for younger generation.

The actor will soon be going abroad to shoot a TV commercial for the brand.

Aamir Khan is on a roll. After the record breaking success of 3 Idiots, the news is out that this Bollywood superstar has been signed up as the brand ambassador for UAE’s leading telecom company “Etisalat”, which will be launched in India soon.

The deal was reportedly cracked before the release of 3 Idiots at Rs 30-35 crore for a period of three years. Aamir has yet another feather in his hat on the addition of Etisalat along with Coca Cola, Tata Sky and Samsung to his endorsement list.

Etisalat has been the telecommunications service provider in the UAE since 1976.

The 55th Annual Filmfare Awards ceremony will be held at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai on February 27, but the organisers have yet to decide who will host the prestigious event.

Last year Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan entertained the audiences with their rib-tickling one-liners, but Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai is still uncertain about the hosts this year.

“Just hold your breath, wait and watch what’s in store,” said Pillai.

Organisers say this year they are not introducing any new award category.

“When we started, we had five categories of awards and now we have 37 categories in total. The growth has been remarkable. This year 111 movies are competing for the awards,” Tarun Rai, CEO of Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd (a joint venture between the Times of India group and BBC Worldwide), said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Considered one of the most prestigious awards in Indian cinema, the awards function will be organised in association with pan-India mobile operator Idea Cellular.

The nominees for the awards will be chosen through audience poll. An equal weightage will be given to polling results as well as a specially appointed panel of judges.

This year, too, the ceremony will offer power-packed performances and a dose of suspense and excitement.

Actor Nana Patekar says he will direct his second Hindi film soon and he has already finalised Deepika Padukone for the lead role.

“Yes, I am directing a film.” Nana told reporters at the press meet of his first Kannada film, Yaksha, on Wednesday. “I have already written the script and have selected Deepika Padukone to play the lead role. I haven’t yet finalised other artistes and technicians for the film. I am going to my native village in Maharashtra in a few days to make preparations for the film. I have not finalised the launch date of the film. But it will be worked out very soon.” he added.

Nana wielded the megaphone for the first time for Prahaar that had Madhuri Dixit in the lead role. The actor, who will be seen in Prakash Jha’s political thriller Rajneeti, also said: “I have not signed any new film after Rajneeti.”

Nana has completed a 13-day shooting schedule of Yaksha, which is his second South-Indian film after Bommalattam. He played a possessive film director in the thriller that didn’t score well at the box-office.” This Kannada film features me in a special role.” said Nana. Yaksha is being produced by Siddaraju and is directed by débutante director Ramesh Rao. Actor Yogeesh is playing the lead, while Ruby will be seen as his love interest. Chandrashekhar is the cameraman of the film while Manju Mandavya has written the dialogues.
