There were rounds of gossip buzzing that Bipasha has called off the relationship and that the two weren’t a couple any more. The event was literally a Bachchan Sandhya where all the family members recited a poem from the book and dedicated it to Late Dr. Bachchan. Ramu’s Rann faces problems     Permalink
May 11, 2009 | Posted By: ruch | No Comments

Ramus Rann faces problemsRam Gopal Verma probably feels like Ranning away after the huge controversy that’s been surging ever since that National Anthem remix (or whatever you’d like to call it) has been largely popularized over digital media. The censor board has decided to ban it because it violates some laws of the Indian Constitution. The lyrics are quite hard hitting, keeping in mind the nature of India today- the politicians, the poverty, riots, murders and so forth, a part of our beloved country. Even though it has lines from our national anthem, Ramu says its just inspired from what the national anthem stands for.

I’ve heard the song and I think its something every Indian can relate to. It might be an extension of the national anthem which was written by Rabindranath Tagore ages ago, but that’s exactly the point. It was written ages ago and now things are different. So what if Ramu decided to tell the truth? We’re a democracy after all, aren’t we?

For those of you who haven’t heard the song or read the lyrics, here goes:

Jana Gann Mann Rann Hai Lyrics
———————————-
Jana gann mana rann hai
Is rann me zakhmi hua hai bhaarat ka bhaagya vidhaata
Punjab sindh gujrat maratha
Ek doosre se ladd ke mar rahe hain
Is desh ne humko ek kiya
Hum desh ke tukdey kar rahe hain
Dravid utkal banga
Khoon bahaa ker, ek rang ka kar diya humne tiranga
Sarhadon pe jung aur
Galiyon me fasaad danga
Vindh himachal yamuna ganga
Me tezaab ubal raha hai
Mar gaya sab ka zameer
Jaane kab zinda ho aagey
Phir bhi tava shubh naame jaage
Tava shubh aashish maange
Aag me jal kar cheekh raha hai
Phir bhi koi nahi sach ko bachaata
Gaahe tava jaya gaatha
Desh ka aisa haal hai lekin
Aapas me ladd rahe neta
Jana gann mangal daayak jaya hai
Bhaarat ko bacha le vidhaata!!!
Jaya hai – ya yeh – marann hai
Jana – gann – mana – rann hai

Salman Writes Back!!     Permalink
September 2, 2008 | Posted By: megatron | No Comments

Salman Writes Back!!Salman Khan has written his very own script. His next movie, Veer is a period film that he penned in between making passive-aggressive calls to Abhishek Bachchan and collecting signatures for the removal of Shah Rukh Khan from the city. At least if it was a contemporary film, we’d know that it couldn’t be all that bad (relatively speaking of course). But it’s these experimental flicks which either go backward or forward in time that really stink up the theatre. As things are poised at the moment, that’s exactly what this one promises to be.

The movie is set in 1880. And so, according to Sallu, everything used in the movie should belong to that time. This is why it took 13 days to record a single track! Sallu asked the music directors Sajid-Wajid to hire musicians from all over India instead of using electronics to mimic the sounds. Isn’t that nice; the Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya star is suddenly worried about authenticity! I’ve seen more authenticity backstage on the sets of TNA Wrestling than I’ve see in this joker’s movies.

So don’t waste your time watching this one. It’s destined to join the list of other disasters like Love Story 2050 and Vikram Bhatt’s ridiculous attempt to make a horror flick, 1920. Whatever the outcome, lets just hope Salman doesn’t express his joy or angst on canvas.

Rape of the Bloke!     Permalink
August 30, 2008 | Posted By: appa | No Comments

Rape of the Bloke! The B-town has had a lot of movies with female protagonists playing characters who have been through the trauma of rape. They have done their bit to put the dog’s tail of our society through a straight pole thinking it would somehow, with their portrayal of what the aftermath of such a heinous act is, change people and get them to think. Whether or not it has really helped the cause… we have no way of telling.

Three new-age directors however, have set their eyes on a new impending social evil we’re badgered with - men getting raped. Manish Gupta’s Hostel looks into the life of a college student who gets raped. The idea stemmed from his conversation with an engineering student who was raped. Manish says the gloom of death that he saw on the guy’s face when confronted with the question about whether he was raped was what triggered Hostel. The censors too have shown this bold movie a green signal and passed it without a snip.

Saurabh Gupta’s It’s a Man’s World, takes a look at male prostitution and in the directors words will try to educate people about how these people are humans after too and not commodities. Sudipto Chattopadhyay in his movie Pankh talks about a young boy who has grown up playing female characters in movies and how this has affected his personality in a way that he is utterly gender confused.

Looks like all of them have a very serious issue to convey. Now how many item songs they need to get this through is what remains to be seen…

RGV chickens out     Permalink
August 25, 2008 | Posted By: nard | No Comments

RGV chickens outRam Gopal Verma has officially hit rock bottom; if such a level actually exists for this clown. Over the last couple of years we’ve seen his work trip and tumble down a downward slope that leads straight into the bowels of the underworld (pun intended). And now, to show the world that nothing is impossible if you try hard enough, he’s outdone his own bad taste and come up with something even worse than the rest of his crap. Phoonk.

The only thing more pathetic than the movie itself is the promotional campaign RGV came up with between ringing his neighbours doorbells and running. He promised 5 lakhs to anyone who could sit through the movie alone in a theatre. As it turns out, when the time came, he tucked his tail between his legs and called it off. The five chosen contestants were asked to book the theatre themselves if they wanted to take part! Fantastic! What can I say? Its shameful, even for a talentless shmuck like you.

Bravo Mr. Verma. I hope that money comes in handy when the audience boycotts your sequel, Phoonk 2. You’re a phoonking joke. Get off the stage while we’re still laughing…

 Konkona Ranvir engaged???

The buzz around B-Town is that the shy couple of Bollywood, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey are finally going to come out into the open with their relationship. Yup, the couple are ready to announce that they are engaged. So far they’ve always been media shy, unlike Saif-Kareena, Ranbir-Deepika and John-Bipasha. Hope they do it in full on Bollywood ishtyle…band baaja…fancy dance number et al ! Konkona Ranvir engaged???

Konkona, who unarguably is the more successful of the two, has bought a 4 bedroom flat in Goregaon. She is taking time of her busy schedule to do up her new pad. The couple should be moving in soon. Life’s looking good for Ranvir too. He has big releases like Singh is Kinng, Mumbai Cutting with Soha Ali Khan, Ugly aur Pagli with Mallika Sherawat and Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk to China. Whats more he’s just bagged a role with buddy Vinay Pathak in a comedy weirdly titled- Tyre Puncture Adventures with Fanta and Cola. Hmmm…I smell another Bheja Fry.

Here I’d just like to remind you folks at home how fucked up Ranvir’s love life had been. After being labelled a serial flirter, he was beaten up by then beau Pooja Bhatt’s brother for misbehaving with her. His battered and bruised face was all over the papers the next day.

Anyways, here’s wishing the best to the new couple.
