As all of us Roadies fanatics know, Sufi just got voted out of Roadies 6.0 Hell Down Under. Unexpected. But that, my friends, is Roadies; quite similar to what we see in real life too. The elections are drawing closer and not surprisingly, Bollywood is involved in encouraging us to vote. But do we really care? Yeah sure, the interest level may have risen after the terror attacks and the Jaagore campaign; but how many of us really know whom to vote for? And do we think the state of our country will improve after voting for the “right” candidate?

If you think our politicians suck, you haven’t seen Roadies yet! Just imagine Devarshi as a politician. I think he could easily be compared to a certain Rail Minister. Atleast he’ll keep us entertained! But with the kind of planning and thinking that actually happens on the show, these people can really do wonders as politicans. Ok may be we can count Paulomi out of it ’cause if she becomes a politician, she’ll only think of her make-up and how we should stop global warming otherwise her make-up will melt. On the other hand, I think Samrat would be a damn good candidate! Don’t you think so? Or how about Raghu! He’s most definitely got it in him to bajao the useless people! If he does become a politican, he will surely get my vote!

Freida Pinto the fresh new face from Slumdog Millionaire is just one film old but her popularity is soaring high . Whats even more shocking is that she may actually become the highest paid actress in the world. It is so believed that Frieda is charging somewhere between 13-15 crores for her next Hollywood flick. Which as a matter of fact is more than what Kareena and Aishwarya would charge.

Not just this she has also been roped in to be the brand ambassador of a few international brands including Estee Lauder. Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is also scared that Frieda will steal her 1 million dollar a year contract of the above brand and she will be sidelined.

Wow so much from just one movie wherein all she did was just stand on a railway platform, now thats what we call truly pure luck!!

They claim to be friends but their actions speak differently. Recently Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone refused to pose together for Vogue magazine. When they were approached to shoot together, each politely declined the offer and asked for an individual shoot.

Although it would have been cool to see the frenimies in a shoot together the two would not giv the rummor mills something to gossip about. The idea was to get the girls into a mock catfight. They were asked to wear a shirt, denims and jacket and get into a fight over a boy’s t-shirt. The visuals had to show them as two tomboyish girls fighting over a boy’s clothes.

This is the second time efforts have been made to bring the two together. Sonam even refused to share the same platform with Deepika at the recently held Filmfare awards which she was asked to host with Deepika. Finally, Konkana Sen Sharma joined Deepika.

At least Deepika has some friends left in Bollywood. Recently at the Mai Mumbai show, Preity Zinta cheered for many friends from Bollywood — from Arjun Rampal to Farhan Akhtar. But when Deepika Padukone walked the ramp, Preity just didn’t seem to be enthused.

Earlier, Manish Malhotra’s front row on Friday saw a Bollywood full-course meal with Deepika, Asin, Anushka Sharma, Riteish Deshmukh and even yesteryear star Sridevi. But what we saw was Deepika being ignored by both Asin and Anushka — with the newbie having nowhere to look except sheepishly concentrate on the show.

While rivalries are part and parcel of Tinseltown, what was interesting was that Asin was also chatting up Sophie Chaudry who was sitting to this South Indian actress’s right. Deshmukh was sitting between Anushka and Asin and all three bonded well as they could be seen giggling and chatting happily. Only poor Deepika was left out. She was only seen conversing with Sridevi, who was sitting to her left.

Why has tinsel town ganged up against poor Deepika? Me thinks she’s achieved too much too fast and has the yummiest man to call her boyfriend.

Lakme India Fashion Week is back and I’m gonna let you in one some really juicy gossip about it. Now before you start thinking fashion malfunctions, let me just burst your bubble. No, there weren’t any fashion malfunctions… yet, but there were lots of Bollywood celebs who stole bitchy glances at each other and we also discovered some new found lovers! (ahem ahem!)

Gossip no.1- Tabu and Nagarjuna (who is married, btw) were seen hand- in- hand and couldn’t take their eyes off each other. For those of you who don’t know, Tabs often drops in to Naga’s house whenever she goes to Hyderabad. I wonder what Naga’s wife has to say about that!

Gossip no. 2- Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor seemed to share some really cold vibes. Why? Well, the reason is stupid- Apparently Sonam stole Vidya’s seat during one of the shows! Uhhh… Grow up women!

Gossip no. 3- Asin was acting like Miss Attitude when all the photographers came to get a good shot of her. Yeah ok, Ghajini did well but how about staying grounded girl? Little did she know that Anushka Sharma was just about to steal the show!

Gossip no. 4- Katrina Kaif actually looked like a doll in the Barbie doll outfit. Poor Ash! The only thing she has now is Abhishek Bachchan!

Gossip no. 5- Deepika Padukone was ignored by EVERYONE! I have no idea why!

It’s official, Katrina Kaif is the new Barbie girl. Yesterday there was a statement released rubbishing the rumours that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was to be immortalised as the new face of Barbie. Apparently Ash was never under consideration while Kat has been in talks with Mattel for over 6 months. Besides Katrina definitely makes a nicer barbie. Who’d want an ice queen doll.

Katrina’s face will now adorn those of Barbie dolls worldwide. And the actress is for once openly flattered.
But are things all hunky dory with her Ken? Salman is apparently ready to settle down but he’s not sure if Katrina is the right person to do that with.

Katrina of course is unsure of why Salman is behaving so weirdly and hopes everything will be fine. I guess Salman’s having a hard time pinning Kat down and keeping her under his possession. Like with all his exes Somy Ali, Sangeeta Bijlani and Aishwarya Rai, love to him means ownership.

And now that Katrina has been immortalised as a barbie doll everyone’s going to have a Katrina and my guess is Salman does not want to share. Guess life in plastic isn’t so fantastic.
Yesterday, at the Fashion Week, Katrina walked the ramp in a small pink dress like the one designed for the Katrina Barbie.Katrina is the first Indian to be the face of Barbie. With the Barbie image coming to the surface again, Katrina is somewhat worried about the bubbly-girl image that she’d like to change.

The doll’s look and dress were planned in collaboration with Kat. The Katrina Barbie will be launched in September.

Despite a cute face and perfect figure along with a huge hit in ‘Mohabbatein’, Preeti Jhangiani failed to make a space for herself in Bollywood. After her marriage to Parveen Dabbas the girl has disappeared from the limelight.

Apparently she has moved to Kollywood. This time she is all set to create magic on Telugu screen by tapping her feet for a special item number in ‘Tejam’ produced by Rajasekhar under Sun Rays Entertainments banner.

Preeti’s first stint in Telugu filmidom was in ‘Thammudu’ (1999) followed by many inconspicuous roles. Now she is now hoping to create a mark with ‘Tejam’ through this peppy song.

Featuring eight heroes and a heroine, the film is almost complete. With the exception of this item song most of the music videos are ready too. The soundtrack will hit the stands soon, while the movie will be ready for release by the end of April.

Asin Thottumkal, the southern sensation believes in making hay while the sun is still shining. This year’s Best Filmfare debut award was recieved by Asin for her Bollywood debut in Ghajini, however Mugdha Godse who was also vying for the same award was over looked.

The southern star has been recently chosen as the brand ambassador for Fairever, the famous fairness cream, and her luck doesn’t stop there Asin has now been roped in by the retail major Future Group to endorse Big Bazaar.
Even though the official announcements are yet to be made about this deal, rumors claim that Asin will be sharing the spotlight with Indian cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the commercials that are yet to be shot.

Life is looking totally up, up and more up for this Ghajini chic. Keep going Asin!

In these dire times of recession Kangana Ranaut does not have any films apart from the recently completed Hrithik Roshan starer Kites. Despite having scored a big hit this year with Raaz 2 and Fashion recently, not many producers have queued to sign her up. And the reason is interesting.

Producers who are interested in signing Kangana are told that her boyfriend Adhyayan Suman has to be signed as her co-star since she feels she shares the best on screen chemistry with him.

But she fails to understand that Bollywood producers want to have a free hand in choosing their heroes and not be dictated by a 2 hit film heroine.

She has clearly told directors to now come to her only if they have a script good enough to cast Adhyayan in the lead role. Only big filmmakers and big production houses are exempt from this clause.

Better watch out Kangana the last time we say behaviour like this was Bhagyashree. After the success of her debut film Maine Pyar Kiya with Salman Khan, actress Bhagyashree too started dictating terms to all her producers that she would sign films only with her husband Himalaya Dassani. Though all producers wanted her no one wanted her wooden husband. The stalemate continued, and the actress found herself out of the running. Today she is reduced to doing bit roles in saas-bahu serials. At least the marriage lasted longer than her Bollywood career.

If all goes well, Aishwarya Rai might be the first Indian celebrity who will have a Barbie based on her. Talks are on between the former beauty queen and Mattel Toys (India), though it might be a long time before this is finalised.

In the West, celebrity Barbies are a big hit with replicas of several screen goddesses and pop princesses like Diana Ross, Liz Taylor, Cher, Beyonce etc hitting the shelf.

To celebrate Barbie’s fiftieth birthday, she will make her presence felt on Indian ramps. At the Fashion Week that begins later this week, a ‘Barbie - All Doll’d’ up show is being organised, where selected designers will flaunt specially created couture outfits with Barbie as their muse. The show is part of the worldwide gala celebrations to commemorate Barbie’s half-century.

The idea is to create a one-of-a-kind look that will present Barbie as a fashionista who is celebrating her birthday in India. Hence her design will definitely have an Indian touch.And what was the basis for selecting the perfect outfit for Barbie? “Something that has a global appeal but with Indian elements in it,” says Lubna Adams. “While judging the designs, we were looking at something appropriate to dress Barbie on her birthday which would complement her image - sexy and feminine.”

Well, if that’s the description of a Barbie, Ash should fit the bill. What say, Ash bhabhi?

After Hrithik Roshan starred opposite Barbara Mori and Akshay Kumar with Kylie Minogue it’s the turn of ‘Rock On‘ actor Arjun Rampal to act with a videshi actor. He was shocked when British producer-director, Sir Ridley Scott approached him to do an ad with famous Hollywood actor, Nicole Kidman.

It would be a five days shooting in Udaipur and Arjun who is busy with his films Rajniti, Housefull and Kunal will fly off to Udaipur today. Arjun is at cloud nine to work with Kidman. “Working with Nicole Kidman is going to be fun,” admitted Rampal before leaving for Udaipur. “This is a dream team to work with. I really appreciate Nicole Kidman as an actor, she’s very, very good, and I’m excited to be working with her.”

Ironically, Nicole has no idea that Arjun is an actor. “But she will once she is here,” said Rampal hopefully. Before Arjun Rampal ventured into films, he was in the modeling world. He left behind ramping and ad commercials nine years back.

Videsh a film based on domestic violence has sure been in news of late and for all the right reasons until recent media reports suggested that the film is too violent and Deepa Mehta has been requested to tone down the battering of Preity Zinta in several scenes.

Sanjay Bhutiani, CEO of BR Films has said, “The essence of the film is highlighting social issues and domestic violence is one amongst them. The Censor Board has objected to the brutality in a few scenes and therefore Deepa Mehta and BR Films have decided to go along with the ‘A’ Certificate which would not compromise on the creative integrity of the film.

Videsh stars Preity Zinta and introduces Vansh Bhardwaj. The film is based on various social issues highlighting domestic violence as one of the major issues plaguing women all over the world. Videsh is a sensitive portrayal of a young bright woman who gets married to a man she has never met.

She leaves her loving family behind in India and shifts to Canada only to face the harsh realities of life.

The film is slated for release on the 27th of March.

One of Bollywood’s hottest new male entrants Adhyayan Suman, who starred in the year’s super hit movie, RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES recently launched his website www.adhyayansuman.in with the intention of staying in touch with the audiences, friends and fans of his movies and more.

At the event were also present Adhyayan’s co-stars from his upcoming movie JASHNN, Shahana Goswamy and Anjana Sukhani that is scheduled to release end of April 2009. Promos of Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Kambakht Ishq’ starring Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Carmen Electra, Sylvester Stallone and some other Hollywood stars have landed in trouble for the use of foul language where both the lead stars call each other canine names. Its shows Kareena calling Akki a dog and in turn he calls her a bitch. Apart from this scene, there is also a line indicating that women are only meant for making love.

Members of the Censor Board were obviously not very happy with this and as a result they have given it an A Certificate. Consequently, the film’s promo cannot be shown on TV. Sajid Nadiadwala, who is currently abroad, is gearing up to confront the board when he return to India.

Says, Vinayak Azad, Regional Officer, Censor Board, “Yes, we have given the promos an A Certificate because I found it very inappropriate.”

“Kareena calls Akshay a dog and in turn he calls her a bitch. Apart from this scene, there is also a line indicating that women are only meant for making love. I found that very inappropriate, because in a promo you can’t understand the context of the scene as we have not yet seen the film,” he added.

Asin’s man friday N. Muthu Kumar has reportedly gone missing. Family of the man employed with Bollywood actor Asin has alleged that he has gone ‘missing’ because of abuse by the actor. Asin of course has denied the charge.

According to Kumar’s parents he had been employed by south star Asin for the past four years. They believe Kumar might have been sacked after he joined the Mumbai underworld several days ago. But their son also expressed his dissatisfaction with his job and that he was likely to quit after the actress abused him over his physical handicap.

Greater Chennai Police Commissioner Sangram Jangid said: ‘The issue is being blown out of proportion by a section of the press. The complaint has been forwarded to the appropriate authorities and there is nothing more to it.’

Asin is currently shooting for ‘London Dreams’ as the female lead with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Vinay Pathak delivers another outstanding performance as Pinu Patel in Straight- Pinu Patel ki tedhi medhi love story.

Pinu Patel the lead character of the film is a thoroughly nice guy, a perfect gentleman. He is smart, sophisticated and successful, sounds great right? Well it almost is, except for the small glitch that Pinu has had very little luck with the ladies. The adorable, shy Pinu is not very successful with the matters of the heart. Despite trying everything, Pinu is still a virgin.

The lonely Pinu in order to get a companion goes to India to get married, unfortunately his string of bad luck with the women continues and he gets dumped at the alter. A disappointed and sad Pinu returns to London, he is too embarrassed to admit to his colleagues and friends that he is not married. Pinu continues to hide the truth, except suddenly out of nowhere two wonderful people enter his life and change it for ever.

Pinu rescues Renu, a cartoonist living in London from a bunch of goons. Kamlesh a fantastic chef and an aspiring standup comedian lands at Pinu’s restaurant looking for a job. Fate brings Kamlesh and Renu at Pinu’s doorstep on the same day. Both land a job at the restaurant and warm friendship develops between the three.

Pinu is glad to have Renu and Kamlesh in his life; he is attracted to Renu and cherishes his friendship with Kamlesh immensely. Everything is going along nicely until one day an incident happens that leaves Pinu confused. Suddenly he begins to wonder if he is gay or straight, he likes Renu, but he also likes Kamlesh! What follows is Pinu’s hilarious quest for love amongst all the confusion! I’m sure many of us are as confused just like him. Its something we all can relate to.

If you liked Vinay Pathak in Bheja Fry, you’ll love him in this, Gul Panag is very pretty and does a good job playing Renu. New comer Anuj Chaudhary is adorable and charming as Kamlesh. Pinu Patel’s Tedhi Medhi love story will leave you in splits and is worth a watch!
