When a hardcore commercial flick gets a standing ovation and a huge round of applause at the end of the show, you know that there is something definitely right that the director has done. In this regard, Kabir Khan can take a bow because he has done exceedingly well in making a film that is not frivolous, has a message and still carries enough commercial ingredients to reach out to masses as well as classes.

His “New York” is a gripping dramatic thriller that has all the trappings to finally end the drought that Bollywood has been facing for an entire year so far.

The film gets on to the point right away. The entire sequence of events involving FBI and the round up of suspects is brilliantly executed that makes you further believe that Kabir Khan knows the job right. The stars of the film John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh need to be given full credit for their performance.

If in his first attempt “Kabul Express” he gave a documentary start to the film by showing actual clippings of 9/11, in case of “New York” too he doesn’t shy away from showing the world what US has become post 9/11.

Instead, a strict eye is kept on the box office hence making sure there is enough drama, thrills and emotional moments to keep audiences thoroughly engaged in the not-so-lengthy movie.

“New York” reaches out to the masses, while also ensuring itself quite a few awards when the best of the best are announced at the end of the year.

“New York” is a must watch!

Yes, this is none other than Rani Mukherjee as she will be seen in the Yash Raj film Dil Bole Hadippa. The actress essays the role of a Sikh boy from a small village, in this full-on entertainer based in Punjab.

The look of the film has been done by Manish Malhotra while Rani’s sardar look has been done by Mike Stringer from UK, who styled the Dhoom 2 look.

The film, directed by Anurag Singh, stars Shahid Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra. The film is said to be inspired by She’s The Man, starring Amanda Bynes.

DBH is a love triangle between Rani Mukerji, Shahid Kapur and Sherlyn Chopra and has Rani masquerading as a male Sikh cricketer. She makes it to the men’s team captained by Shahid Kapoor to prove she can play as well as any man. Along the way, Shasha and Rani fall in love.

Off late John Abraham and Katrina Kaif having been putting off rumours about them being more than just friends etc etc. Now we all know about how much Sallu hates Johnny boy and vice versa. These two definately top the list of one of the few big rivals in Bollywood.

Adding fuel to the rumours Kat and Johns chemistry in the much awaited film New York is not hidden. We wonder what Salman Khan will say when he sees the music video of Mere Sang from Kabir Khan’s New York.

The track which has Katrina and John Abraham indulge in passionate love-making and even a kiss on the lips, is perhaps an attempt to showcase the chemistry between the actors.

But is that chemistry forced or for real? See the clips alongside and be the judge. After all, your own eyes won’t decieve you.

Ashutosh Gowariker has done it again. After a verbal spat with hosts Sajid and Farah Khan at an awards ceremony, he had another run-in with Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani, who were hosting the IIFA awards over the weekend.

It is learnt that the Jodhaa Akbar director took objection to a skit they did on stage. Although the hosts did take-offs on many films, Gowariker was the only one who took objection to their act.

For the Jodhaa Akbar act, Boman played Akbar while a starlet played Jodha. Riteish walked in dressed as Amitabh Bachchan in Shahenshah.

When Boman asked Riteish who he was, the latter replied, ‘Rishte mein tumhare baap lagte hai, lekin naam hai Shahenshah’ to which Boman said, ‘Tum Shahenshah toh main kaun hoon?’ It was not at all offensive

Ashutosh didn’t like the act and stormed into the green room in the middle of the show and lectured Riteish and Boman about poking fun at people and films.

However Riteish stood upto Ashu. He told Ashu that he should learn to take a joke and develop a sense of humour rather than take everything personally. Even Boman snapped and questioned Ashu how come he had never raised an objection when SRK made jokes as a host.

The organisers are now considering not inviting Ashu for future events.

Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja has got himself into a lot of trouble. As shocking as it may sound, its not just anything he has been accused of raping his house maid at his residence in Oshiwara.

Ahuja is married with a child and is known for his roles in films like Hazaron Khwaishe Aisi, and Gangster. The 18-year-old maid had been working with Ahuja for the last one-and-a-half months. The actor’s wife was not at home and that is when he took her into his bedroom, gagged and raped her on Sunday afternoon.

On the other hand Shiney Ahuja has confessed of having a physical relationship with his maid out of mutual consent.

He has been detained for questioning by the Mumbai police after the tests conducted on the maid confirmed the sexual assault.

This I hear is not Shiney’s first brush with the law. In 2006, a junior artist had filed a complaint against Shiney for misbehaving with her in a drunken state. He has also been in the news for his restrained relationships with his co-stars.

Shiney at this rate we simply don’t understand why a good actor like you would want to ruin your personal and professional life. After this all we can say is,if you are guilty you better pay for it. Its all over now!!!

Saif ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are known to be bollywoods most talked about couple. We all know that they seem to be a couple truly in love and all, but there is one thing not many people know. They both believe in a tit for tat factor.

The reason being, in latest promos of Love Aaj Kal and Kambakkth Ishq both Saif and Kareena have pecked their co-stars on the lips in their respective films.

While Akshay plants one on Bebo in Kambakkht Ishq, Saif too isn’t far behind. He’s seen giving Deepika a peck on her lips in Love Aaj Kal.

Tusshar Kapoor is too much of a good boy to let anything get in the way of his work. Professional to a fault, he won’t let anything or anyone to bring the shooting to a halt not even his best buddy Celina Jaitly. Recently, the actor had a showdown with her, followed by a cold war for a few days.

They were rehearsing for a song for Run Bhola Run along with Govinda and Ameesha. Poor Tusshar wanted their steps to be perfectly synchronised, because of which he might’ve grabbed her arm tightly. The next day, she accused him of having bruised her hand so badly that she almost had to take a break from shooting! He also apologized to her saying it was not on purpose and dint realize how that happen.

She showed the purple-and-blue bruises on her hands to everyone on the sets. She started screaming for the choreographers and her make-up guy to come over and prove that Tusshar had done it.This finally got Tusshar really pissed and he broke his silence and gave Celina a piece of his mind. He asked her to stop wearing high heels and asked her to concentrate more on acting and less on looking like a bimbo. Oops!! that must have really heated things up.

Finally Tusshar broke the ice after three days.

Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman who have been seeing each other since more than a year, recently called off their relationship. After reading so many love-dovey articles about them, I thought this couple would be together always, but I was wrong. The reason for their break up is long distance and lack of time. I’ve heard that distance makes the heart grow fonder… But it seems like that in their case distance makes the heart wander. Perhaps the speculation about Adhyayan Suman dating Anjana Sukhani or Shahana Goswami is true… Not like I know for sure, but if you remember even Shekhar Suman disapproved of Kangana being the bahu.
Its sad the way these relationships break, especially when you see the couple so in love! Yeh Bollywood hai meri jaan. Yahaan kuchh bhi ho sakta hai.

Sony Entertainment Television made a huge announcement all over claiming that there will be all new shows from the 25th of May, after the IPL. I did end up watching quite a few of them though. Here’s a list of all the shows and what I think of them.

1) Chittod Ki Rani Padmini Ka Johur- This one is ok. It’s for those who really like serials based on history and the like, can watch this. The female lead Tejaswini is pretty and her acting is decent. Luckily, there’s no over-acting. The sets are gorgeous, of course, as we’ve seen them in the film Jodhaa Akbar before. So I’d rate this one 2.5 on 5.

2) Palampur Express- I kinda like this one. Its not one of those cliché family dramas. The actress Pooja Kanwal is refreshingly nice and makes the show the way it is. Palampur Express somehow reminds me of Bend It Like Bekham story wise. How the girl is so ambitious and her family’s against it. Good stuff. I’ll rate this one 3.5 on 5.

3) Bhaskar Bharti-Let me tell you that the main lead Ragini Khanna is a brilliant actress! The serial wouldn’t have been half as good without her. The concept is of course a copy from the Hollywood flick Hot Chick but its not as good. Although its picking up, I hope it does get better. I’ll rate it 2.5 on 5.

4) Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega- Farah Khan and Anu Mallik are definitely the best judges to have on a show. The show is fun and entertaining of course, but sometimes I feel the judges are the ones who make the show more fun to watch. It feels nice to see such talented Indians. Its one show no one would get bored watching. I’ll rate it 4.5 on 5.

5) Dus Ka Dum 2- The first episode sure was entertaining but don’t you think Salman Khan is overdoing it? I could see how embarrassed poor Kareena was when he kept pulling her leg! It is entertaining and fun, no doubt; but it might just get annoying if Salman continues taking people’s cases! I’ll rate it 3 on 5.

6) Ladies Special- The moment I heard Neena Gupta was in it, I knew it would be good. The concept, the story, the dialogues, acting, and everything about this serial is A class. I actually look forward to watching it everyday. I’ll rate it 5 on 5.

7) Dekh India Dekh- This show has some amazingly talented actors and that’s the reason this show is worth watching. The jokes are hilarious, unlike some others from a famous comedy show. Gaurav Gera is superb! Shekhar Suman is a wee bit irritating but otherwise the show’s fun. I’ll rate it 4 on 5.

Bollywood hunk John Abraham fractured his foot while shooting a day-long cricket match for David Dhawan’s “Hook Ya Crook” for which i hear he will sport a cast for a month. Apparently he continued shooting despite the fracture.

The hard ball shot straight through the air and bang into John’s right foot and he heard a distinct crack. John knew something had gone awfully wrong in his foot.

The foot had swollen to twice its normal size. John’s girlfriend Bipasha feels he shouldn’t have continued shooting with injured foot.

I also hear that last week has been tough on poor johnny he was down with a severe viral fever followed by the whole yukkie link up with Katrina Kaif. Then John lost his uncle. And now his foot is fractured. We only hope that this is the climax of his crises.

But we cant predict Sallus temper now can we. Another link-up and johnny boy ur going to be in big trouble mister.

I recently read that Hollywood director Rob Cohen thinks that Deepika Padukone is ‘gorgeous’ and in fact, ‘more beautiful than Angelina Jolie.’ He’s the same guy who directed films like The Fast and the Furious and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

After seeing her in various magazines and ads, Rob thought about how Bollywood has such a huge list of talented actors and Deepika is one of them. Sure she is! I mean, after seeing Freida Pinto’s name all over the media, especially when her role in Slumdog Millionaire must have been what, 5 minutes?

I’m just thinking that if Deepika does get to do a Hollywood film, she will be amongst the highest paid actresses in Bollywood! Woo-hoo!
