Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has replaced Salman Khan as the face of innerwear brand Dollar Club.

“Dollar Industries is tipped to spend up to Rs. 25 crore for the campaign in the next one year. The new commercials featuring Akshay Kumar are likely to hit the air in the first week of February,” said Krishan Gupta, director of Dollar Industries Ltd, in a press statement.

Akshay says this will be his first endorsement in the knitted innerwear segment, and he’s happy to be associated with thte brand because there is a perfect fit between him and the brand, reason being that the brand stands for style of the future generation and he has always been a style statement for younger generation.

The actor will soon be going abroad to shoot a TV commercial for the brand.

Choreographer turned director Farah Khan and actor Shahrukh Khan have been the best of friends for years but recently the rumour blew up that they were no longer friends. The news caught fire when Farah Khan dropped King Khan from her new project, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and opted for Akshay Kumar. However, it was also said that Farah Khan was not happy with Shahrukh Khan as he had been delaying her other project, ‘Happy New Year’ for a long time.

The news about their differences was confirmed when Shahrukh Khan did not turn up for Farah Khan’s lingerie show. But now Farah has put all those rumours to rest by accompanying Gauri Khan to the screening of James Cameron’s Avatar. The special screening was arranged by Shahrukh for his children and close friends. Present at the occasion were Farah Khan, Karan Johar and Javed Akhtar.

It seems now things have come to the right track.

Bollywood was once envious of Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan’s close relationship but now the two best friends have fallen apart. They are no longer friends. It all started when Farah Khan and her husband Shrish Kunder picked up Akshay Kumar for their upcoming project, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ instead of Shahrukh Khan.

The hole in their relationship came into the forefront when Farah Khan invited Shahrukh for the lingerie show and he refused while Farah’s new-found friend Akshay Kumar whole-heartedly accepted her invitation.

Confirming the news, a source said, “Farah has called her new favourite star Akshay Kumar and her old friend Shahrukh Khan too. While Akshay agreed to be at the show, SRK turned down her invitation saying he is too embarrassed to be a part of such lingerie shows”.

However, Farah Khan should get ready to do without King Khan.

Khiladi Kumar a.k.a. Akshay Kumar has turned 42 today. Akshay, who started his career with an action movie, played almost every type of roles. Starting his career in nineties, Akshay is celebrating his 42nd birthday today.

Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone has turned to Ayurveda in an effort to end persisting knee pain after Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar told him to do so.

Akshay, who was working with the action star in Hindi film “Kambakkht Ishq”, bonded with him during a chat about on-set injuries and suggested Ayurveda when Stallone started talking about his persisting knee problem.
Akshay even provided the name of his favourite Ayurvedic practitioner.

Stallone appeared to be really interested in Ayurvedic treatment and asked for more details. He said he intends to spread the word about Ayurveda among his Hollywood comrades.

Saif ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are known to be bollywoods most talked about couple. We all know that they seem to be a couple truly in love and all, but there is one thing not many people know. They both believe in a tit for tat factor.

The reason being, in latest promos of Love Aaj Kal and Kambakkth Ishq both Saif and Kareena have pecked their co-stars on the lips in their respective films.

Akshay Kumar’s first season of Khatron Ke Khiladi was a lot of fun to watch, but before you start recollecting what happened, here’s the advance gossip of this year’s season. Hold your breath…This year’s winner is Viva girl Anushka Manchanda. How do I know, you ask? Well, its obvious that I’ve heard this somewhere, from a reliable source, of course!

The season, which will be aired in September, was shot in April 2009 itself in South Africa as the climate was perfect. Akshay Kumar also had time to devote to stunts that will be seen on the show. I’m not sure about the 13 women on the show, but here’s a list of some that might be participatin this year. They include Rosa Cattalano, Mandira Bedi, Rupali Ganguly, Shveta Salve, Pia Trivedi, Anushka Manchanda, Bruna Abdullah and Carol Gracias. I’m hoping this season will be hotter than last time’s. The women for sure are hotter!

After watching the promos of Kambakkht Ishq, I think Kareena Kapoor and Akshay Kumar’s jodi might just work wonders! Both are amongst the most wanted actors in Bollywood today and after seeing them together sharing the same screen space, who would not want to see their chemistry.

We’ve seen Kareena kiss Fardeen Khan in Dev and Shahid Kapur in Jab We Met. But to see her kiss Khiladi no.1 Akshay Kumar would definitely be something to look out for.

Apparently, while shooting for the scene, Kareena got uncomfortable and felt extremely awkward kissing an actor who was once her sister’s co-star. She probably felt that way because she’s committed to boyfriend Saif. But Akshay’s committed to Twinkle too, right? Anyway, she finally fought her awkward feeling and kissed like a thorough professional. Ha! I think that sounded pretty bad. What I meant was that Kareena and Akshay finally kissed as it was a very important scene in the film and they had to do their job.

Being a sardar seems to have become a trend these days with more and more actors getting into pagdis. Ranbir Kapoor is the latest sardar on the block who is sporting a turban too in his film Rocket Singh.

Akshay Kumar, the hearthrob of millions did an act at the Lakme India Fashion Week that popped many eyeballs and believe you me he did! Of course, it was a shocker to see his wife Twinkle to unzip his pants in public but it was a rather unique way to get attention, especially when Shahrukh Khan was walking the ramp on the same day.

If you remember, he won the Padmashree award for best actor just recently. But after this shameful act, people are actually thinking of taking it back! As we in India are quite sentimental about these things, it disturbed many social activists who went and complained at a nearby police station. Akshay realised that and made a public apology for his appalling behaviour. But let’s see if he comes clean out of this. Akki…is so not lucky! Poor thing!

Nagesh Kukunoor is back with a mind-numbing film in the form of a thriller this time, titled 8 X 10 Tasveer. To tell you honestly, the promos drew me to the theatre. It seemed really interesting. But…but… BUT, unfortunately, its so blah! Now if you compare it to any recent thrillers, 13B totally rocked and also managed to have some surprise elements. But in this one, it just goes on and on except for the ending.

‘8×10 Tasveer’ is about Jai [Akshay Kumar], who possesses supernatural powers. Jai is of Indian origin who works as a forest ranger in Canada. His life is shattered by a loss of an important person in his life - his father [Benjamin Gilani]. This personal tragedy leads him to use his unique supernatural powers to unravel the mystery.

Akshay Kumar and a few others have acted reasonably well. Ayesha Takia is just eye candy. The story is all over the place and the murder’s not justified well enough making you think “What the…!” So yeah, I wish Nagesh worked a little harder on the script and the loopholes.

Watch out for the opening song and the background music and how brilliantly its shot. But otherwise, its ok even if you don’t watch it for the thrill of it. Yep. Its totally avoidable.

Promos of Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Kambakht Ishq’ starring Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Carmen Electra, Sylvester Stallone and some other Hollywood stars have landed in trouble for the use of foul language where both the lead stars call each other canine names. Its shows Kareena calling Akki a dog and in turn he calls her a bitch. Apart from this scene, there is also a line indicating that women are only meant for making love.

Members of the Censor Board were obviously not very happy with this and as a result they have given it an A Certificate. Consequently, the film’s promo cannot be shown on TV. Sajid Nadiadwala, who is currently abroad, is gearing up to confront the board when he return to India.

Says, Vinayak Azad, Regional Officer, Censor Board, “Yes, we have given the promos an A Certificate because I found it very inappropriate.”

“Kareena calls Akshay a dog and in turn he calls her a bitch. Apart from this scene, there is also a line indicating that women are only meant for making love. I found that very inappropriate, because in a promo you can’t understand the context of the scene as we have not yet seen the film,” he added.

It will be a clash of the Titans. Two of the biggest films of the year, Vipul Shah’s ‘London Dreams’ and director Anthony D’Souza’s ‘Blue’, are set to release on the same day - Aug 14.

To prevent the clash in dates, Vipul has been trying to convince the makers of ‘Blue’ to release it a week earlier. Since Akshay Kumar is a good friend of Vipul he is confident that Blue will accomodate him. Now the fact that VIpul is so insecure about his movie that he needs it to release in isolation is something that needs to be closely examined. It’s very similar to July 4th of last year when the two most hyped Bollywood newcomers took the ring. Harman Baweja and Imran Khan faced off and only Imran was left standing. Harman may have had daddy dearest backing him up along with a huge budgeted sci-fi flick Lovestory 2050 but it was Imran and mamu Aamir Khan’s college lovestory Jaane tu ya jaane na that triumphed.

Vipul had earlier taken friend Akshay into confidence and met Raj Mehta, head honcho of Asthavinayak, to request them for a change in the release date of ‘Blue’.

However, Anthony D’Souza, who is shooting round the clock to complete the film, insists that the release will be on schedule.

Aug 13 is a public holiday and the added holiday will give them the longest-ever weekend for a film to release and grow. It doesn’t seem like either of them will back down. In any case ‘London Dreams’ and ‘Blue’ are very different films.

However, Vipul seems to think it’s suicidal to release both films during the same weekend. ‘London Dreams’ features Ajay Devgan, Salman Khan and south star Asin .Whereas Blue features a super fit Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar, Zayed Khan and Sanjay Dutt. Katrina Kaif’s extended role in Blure might cause friction for Sallu-Kat and Blue has the added star quotient with Kylie Minogue.

Let’s see how this one pans out and who’s left standing.

Over the next eight days Kylie will be in Mumbai working on Ashtavinayak Films’ Blue which stars Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta and Zayed Khan and which has music scored by Oscar winner A R Rahman.

Kylie has already recorded two songs for the film, one a solo for the promotional video of Blue and the other a duet with Sonu Nigam. The international pop music artist who has sold in excess of 60 million records and has achieved her greatest successes in Australia, Europe, Asia and Latin America, was approached and given the music tracks scored by Rahman to hear. She liked them and agreed to sing for the film, but in her London music studio. Her solo number is reportedly a racy and peppy song that has an international beat to it. The duet was done between Mumbai and London, with Sonu recording here and his tracks being sent to London for Kylie to sing along with. The music notwithstanding, Blue which will release in August appears to be the costliest Bollywood film ever made with its budget touching Rs 110 crore already.

In Mumbai, Kylie who is well-known for her elaborate music videos and expensively mounted stage shows, is slated to shoot the duet with superstar Akshay Kumar to Farah Khan’s choreography. Speaking with regards Akshay said yesterday, “I actually and truly believe Slumdog Millionaire has opened many doors for not only India, but for our own film industry. Only weeks ago Kylie was on stage honouring our beloved A R Rahman at the BAFTA Awards, now she’s performing a song composed by the very same man. I think she must feel as honoured and excited about working together with him as I am. And I’ve heard Kylie moves as sweet as she sings, so it’s back to the rehearsal room for me!”

The 60th year of the Indian republic made Bollywood proud when two leading stars of Bollywood were awarded top civilian honours. Yesterday, the Government of India awarded Padma Shree to Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has popularized Indian cinema across the globe and has given much to Indian entertainment industry and though Akshay Kumar has done mainly commercial cinema yet his success and hits cannot be ignored. To be known that a few days ago, Akshay had been given the popular choice best actor award, which he refused.

The other Bollywood recipient of the prestigious Padma Shree is none other than the legendary Helen and Madhuri Dixit.
