Vivek Oberoi’s uninvited entry - yet again!     Permalink
January 29, 2010 | Posted By: gravity | 1 Comment

VivekBollywood actor Vivek Oberoi seems to have taken a fancy to following star couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. He did it yet again Thursday evening when he made an unexpected late entry at the premiere of “Rann where Aishwarya and Abhishek were present for the Amitabh Bachchan starrer.

Vivek, who was linked with Aishwarya earlier, arrived hastily at the venue half an hour after the premiere had begun. A source told us “It’s strange to see Vivek here. We don’t know if he has been invited here or has come over just because he is in the capital for an event.” Vivek was reportedly an uninvited entry at Hrithik Roshan’s birthday bash early this month at Shah Rukh Khan’s house Mannat in Mumbai, where the Bachchan couple was present.
He was also spotted chatting with Big B and his wife Jaya at a recent awards function where Aishwarya and Abhishek were noticed sitting at a far distance.

abhishek, vivek, shah rukhBollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has taken a bold step which may very rare dare to take. He has acted as a peacemaker between the two warring actors Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi. Abhi and Vivek almost stopped talking after Aishwarya dumped him and tied the knot with Abhishek Bachchan. Things went weird after Vivek made some stunning revelation about Ash at Farah Khan show, ‘Tere Mere Beech Main’. But now Shah Rukh Khan thought that they should end the truce and join hand. With this motive, he invited Abhi, Ash and Vivek to his party at ‘Mannat’.

A source close to Vivek says, “Shah Rukh certainly did not want any of his guests to feel tense at his home. Besides, he had personally invited Abhishek, Aishwarya, Vivek and many others to Mannat, when they met at Hrithik’s birthday party in Juhu.”

Shah Rukh Khan helped the two gentlemen to erase the discomfort and created a lighter and friendly atmosphere between the two. The two actors after a while seemed comfortable at each other’s company.

Few days back, Vivek was also seen bridging the gap between him and the Bachchans by talking to Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan. The three got along very well.

On this occasion Big B with wife Jaya, son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya, best friend Amar Singh and many more inaugurated the English version of famous series of poetry called “Madhushala” written by his late father. The event was literally a Bachchan Sandhya where all the family members recited a poem from the book and dedicated it to Late Dr. Bachchan. Abhi-Ash were excited to recite their favourite poems with everyone. Big B read an extensive part of the book and remembered the good old days when he heard them from his father…

Mallika Sherawat rejected by Kay Kay Menon     Permalink

Mallika Sherawat rejected by Kay Kay MenonIt was considered an unwritten rule in Bollywood that when Mallika Sherawat demands something she gets it. There aren’t many men in the industry who would dare to say NO to Mallika Sherawat. Remember even Big B had accepted her offer to go for jogging in slow motion on National Television.

But well there has been an exception now! It is learnt from my industry sources that talented actor Kay Kay Menon turned down the role that Mallika offered him in her home production Hisss. Mallika Sherawat rejected by Kay Kay Menon

Mallika is a genuine fan of Kay Kay’s work, especially his intensity. Together they had worked in Sanjay Chhel’s Maan Gaye Moghal-E-Azam. She then sent over the script of her film. First Kay Kay took days to get back, he then called her up to tell her he was not interested in the role.

Mallika who is not used to hearing a NO hung up on him in the middle of the conversation even before he could give reasons for not doing the film. Well just imagine what would have happened had he said that on her face…a HISSSS???

Ramu’s Rann faces problems     Permalink
May 11, 2009 | Posted By: ruch | No Comments

Ramus Rann faces problemsRam Gopal Verma probably feels like Ranning away after the huge controversy that’s been surging ever since that National Anthem remix (or whatever you’d like to call it) has been largely popularized over digital media. The censor board has decided to ban it because it violates some laws of the Indian Constitution. The lyrics are quite hard hitting, keeping in mind the nature of India today- the politicians, the poverty, riots, murders and so forth, a part of our beloved country. Even though it has lines from our national anthem, Ramu says its just inspired from what the national anthem stands for.

I’ve heard the song and I think its something every Indian can relate to. It might be an extension of the national anthem which was written by Rabindranath Tagore ages ago, but that’s exactly the point. It was written ages ago and now things are different. So what if Ramu decided to tell the truth? We’re a democracy after all, aren’t we?

For those of you who haven’t heard the song or read the lyrics, here goes:

Jana Gann Mann Rann Hai Lyrics
———————————-
Jana gann mana rann hai
Is rann me zakhmi hua hai bhaarat ka bhaagya vidhaata
Punjab sindh gujrat maratha
Ek doosre se ladd ke mar rahe hain
Is desh ne humko ek kiya
Hum desh ke tukdey kar rahe hain
Dravid utkal banga
Khoon bahaa ker, ek rang ka kar diya humne tiranga
Sarhadon pe jung aur
Galiyon me fasaad danga
Vindh himachal yamuna ganga
Me tezaab ubal raha hai
Mar gaya sab ka zameer
Jaane kab zinda ho aagey
Phir bhi tava shubh naame jaage
Tava shubh aashish maange
Aag me jal kar cheekh raha hai
Phir bhi koi nahi sach ko bachaata
Gaahe tava jaya gaatha
Desh ka aisa haal hai lekin
Aapas me ladd rahe neta
Jana gann mangal daayak jaya hai
Bhaarat ko bacha le vidhaata!!!
Jaya hai – ya yeh – marann hai
Jana – gann – mana – rann hai

 Rann is now India 24/7

Ram Gopal Verma’s Rann starring Amitabh Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Gul Panag, etc. is now going to be called India 24/7. The funny part is that a newspaper, very famous for faffing about celebrities went all out and stated that Amitabh Bachchan is launching his own News Channel. But… its all rubbish! In fact, its a piece of news that is as rubbish as the one we read recently about Hrithik and Suzanne splitting up! Here are a few quoted lines from Big B’s blog. ” The point is not that incorrect news was printed. The point is also not that it was printed despite denial. The point is the level at which it went in forming a completely incorrect opinion and impression in the minds of the readers.”

 Rann is now India 24/7

Big B mentioned this in his blog and made it very clear that this newspaper is creating news out of nothing at all. In fact, he even posted pictures in his blog to prove that India 24/7 is not a News Channel but the name of the film he is acting in. Tch tch tch!

Slumdog Millionaire: Reviewed     Permalink

Slumdog Millionaire: ReviewedSlumdog Millionaire. What a movie! Like seriously! I know the whole world must have told you how amazing it is and all that but when you watch it yourself, you’ll know.

Remember Kaun Banega Crorepati? The movie is pretty much based on KBC; but here, there’s a story behind every answer. And fortunately for him, Jamal, the slumdog millionaire actually gets every answer correct!

I loved how they’ve shown the slums of Mumbai and all the things that happen to little children in India. Really sad, but the way its all shot, is superb; especially the part in which little Jamal falls into a huge puddle of shit just so that he can run and get Amitabh Bachchan’s autograph. Everybody’s acted really well… even the little kids. But you must notice Dev Patel’s expressions while playing the game. I thought he looked totally zonked out! The music and background score also go well with the story and theme.

So, just like everybody else, who’s seen it, I’m so gonna recommend this movie to you guys. Its one worth watching for sure.

I’ll rate it 4 on 5.

Big B at Chandini Chowk premiere in LondonSuperstar Amitabh Bachchan’s surprise visit to the premiere of film Chandni Chowk to China literally floored the action hero Akshay Kumar who was overwhelmed by the presence of the Badshah of Bollywood. Welcoming the “Big B”, Akshay Kumar said, “I would like to invite Amitabh Bachchan whom I adore.”

Admiring the rapid progress made by Akshay as a leading Bollywood star, Bachchan said last evening, “I am extremely proud of this young man. I have seen his growth from early days when he used to remain in the background to now when he is in the forefront of the Indian Cinema. It is a remarkable journey and we are proud of you.” Bachchan said who was on a private visit to the city.

“It is always a pleasure to watch films in London.” Thanking the NRIs for their support to the Indian cinema, Bachchan said “Indian cinema is becoming more and more a part of your life.”Akshay virtually was in great pain while doing some of the rare stunts and lifting leading heroine Deepika Padukone in mid-air in the Warner Bros Pictures maiden Bollywood film Chandni Chowk to China. This was revealed here by Akshay Kumar himself at the grand European Premiere of the USD 9 million film at the 1300-seater Empire theatre at the Leicester Square, in the heart of the city, last night.

Ramu Switches Lanes     Permalink

Ramu Switches LanesAfter numerous brain numbing attempts to create something that doesn’t find it’s way to the ‘VCD’s that you get free with your new TV’ bin, Ram Gopal Varma has decided to switch genres. He’s going to step out of his horror/crime mould for once and make a movie about media. During the course of the two hour stomach pumping that this promises to be, he wants to capture the effect of television on the layman.

He claims that the television with its million channels and fancy remotes gets under an unsuspecting watcher’s skin and toys with their psyche. And it’s going to be none other than Grandaddy Cool, Amitabh Bachchan who plays the founder of a news channel in the movie. With this sort of combination, I’m afraid to think about what sort of effect it’ll have on the poor audience. It’ll just give them another reason to watch Bigg Boss more often; if that’s possible.

To make matters worse, there’s no item girl in the picture. If it all comes together as Ramu sees it, this one is promising to be as dangerous as a full length Glenn Medeiros album.

AB is all well and itchingThere’s good news for all the Big B fans. The superstar is recovering well and will be at his best soon. His family however would like him to stay put in the confines of Lilavati hospital till he completely recovers. They say that the 66 year old baby cannot be controlled once he is out and there is no stopping the constant flow of visitors who keep seeking him everyday. Amitabh, they say has still not learnt the art to say the much needed “no.”

Big B in the meanwhile is already keen on resuming work and is quite excited. He is particularly interested in starting work for Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s The Legend of Kunal, where he is alongside Tabu. A host of other films too are just waiting for him to come out of the hospital.

Amitabh hospitalised     Permalink

Amitabh hospitalisedAmitabh Bachchan has finally reached his breaking point. He has worked himself beyond exhaustion. On his 66th birthday the superstar was rushed to the hospital after he complained of stomach pains.

Many say the cause of this could be due to his various professional commitments. Everyone has been warning him to take it easy but he shows no signs of slowing down. Big B is currently working on three movies Alladin, Teen Patti and Shoe Bite besides planning an Indian leg of The Unforgettable tour.

Mr. Bachchan has had quite a few burnouts in his career right from a stunt scene that got real on the sets of Coolie, to being hospitalised for over-exhaustion a couple of years ago and none of them have been able to stop him from doing what he wants to do.

Well-wishers have praying for his well being. The craziest include classical art veterans, Birju Maharaj and Girija Devi, who stopped their concert for five minutes to pray for the icons.

The Bachchans Bag Another oneThe latest innocent by-stander to be claimed by Bollywood’s answer to the Freemasons Club, the Bachchans, is none other than hip-hop demon and ‘that guy who sang Mariah Mariah‘, Wyclef Jean. His recent comments have left no doubt in my mind that the wily Bachchans have taken his soul into custody and will not release it until he says the magic words. Nishabd moved me to emotional spaces that I never thought existed within me. Say that and you’re free to go.
 The Bachchans Bag Another one
In case you’ve forgotten what Wyclef  has to do with anything, here’s a reminder. He and Abhishek had recorded a number together for the album Bollywood meets Hollywood. It seems the two shared a moment in the studio which has somehow convinced Mr. Jean that this Monday morning burnt toast that Junior B calls a personality is hypnotic!! As if that wasn’t hilarious enough, he goes on to call Bachchan senior one of the sharpest men he’s ever met.

Maybe now, after they’ve gotten more mileage out of one track on some pointless album than a Hero Honda Splendour can get on a Frankfurt autobahn, I think Wyclef will be allowed to make his way back to the U.S. and never talk about this ever again.

Bas Karo Yashji     Permalink

Bas Karo YashjiJust when you thought Yash Chopra had gone into hibernation-until-death mode, he’s started working on a new script. The last time we were exposed to his brand of eye-poking cinema was four years ago with Veer Zaara. And now, to add one more to his staggering list of insufferable movies, he’s making another romantic comedy with Shah Rukh and Amitabh Bachchan.

I thought he’d take his chances late in life and would attempt to tackle a different sort of movie but no; the higher the pile of money your carcass slaloms down when you’re dead the better right Yashji? So I guess the four year break was dedicated to training his hamster, Aditya Chopra, to take the reigns after his death.

The upcoming movie was thought to be a remake of Kabhie Kabhie, but that turned out to be a rumour. The fact is that all of Yashji’’s movies are remakes of his first movie. And so, after the two Chopras are done working on Aditya’s pending closed garage with the car engine running of a release called Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Yashji will focus on re-writing some old script that’s lying around in his basement. Throw in SRK and a train pulling away from a European station and you’ve got yourself a hit.

The Bachchan’s Unforgettable Tour Update     Permalink

The Bachchans Unforgettable Tour UpdateIt’s ironic that the already famous Bachchans are virtually dying for more fame and publicity ALL the time! And that is exactly what the leading family of the film industry is doing, by means of their ‘Unforgettable Tour‘, touring 28 different cities in Europe and the United States. Oh please!! Give us a break! The only unforgettable thing about this tour are the prices and the ridiculous number of times the ads are being shown to already fed up New Yorkers at Times Square.

Apparently the tour does consist of other stars as well but none of them are being thrown into the limelight as much as the Ash, Abhishek and Big B trio. Thank god, that some genuine stars such as Madhuri Dixit are finally starting to gain some well deserved publicity through the show as well. The rarely seen Madhuri recently gave breathtaking performances at San Francisco and Los Angeles, to her most popular tracks such as ‘Que Sera Sera‘ from ‘Pukar‘, and ‘Ek Do Teen‘ from ‘Tezaab‘. Way to go, Mads! We hope the permanently press-hungry Bachchans are not too jealous of your fan following at the shows! :p

We pity the poor culturally starved NRI’s in America and Europe who are forced to see ads of the tour every five minutes, but cannot go see the actual show because of the super high price of two hundred and fifty pounds per ticket. I’d rather spend double the money to go to Madame Tussaud’s ten times, than spend so many pounds to watch something so fake and ridiculously expensive when you can just watch them on TV at home. So we guess Big B’s declaration that the ‘tour is solely due to the love of the fans’ was a big fat lie! Try reducing ticket prices if you love your fans so much! As if you would actually bother to parade around for your beloved fans for free! It’s obvious that the tour is about the money, seeing that each star is getting paid an exorbitant 700,000 pounds per act! Truly unforgettable!! But only for the Bachchan’s… ;)
